Pop up Bat Watch at McCord Park

Bat House at McCord Park

This event has ended

Bring a folding chair or a blanket and settle in near the bat house at 8:00. We also recommend
wearing long sleeved clothing if the mosquitos love you. We’ll start out the evening with a brief
introduction about the bats of McCord Park while we wait for them to grace the skies. We
counted 330 Brazilian free-tailed bats leaving the bat house at sunset on April 25. Come join
us! It’s a great way to learn and appreciate these amazing creatures.

This event is led by Vanessa and Richard Crisler who are bat enthusiasts and have a thriving
bat house colony at their Crestview Ave property. Along with their neighbor Wilson Baker, a
field biologist, who has studied bat distribution in northern Georgia.

If it rains we’ll reschedule for Saturday May 3.
